you can run anything that would be in a cron job manually (can even make
an icon for it).

I have been using
http://scdbackup.sourceforge.net/main_eng.html

I created a wrapper that tags the Disc.  IF the tag is not present the
backup will not run (but I use cron and might forget and leave a disc in
the drive overnight).
