Is mandrake gone?

well, Gael Duval is gone.. (now he's working on ulteo)
Mandriva seems like a pretty good distro. There are versions with and w/o binaries like nvidia.

Mandrake bought (or merged) with Brazil based Connectiva to form
Mandriva.  This was at least 2 years ago, I think.
