Sorry I haven't got back sooner, I don't check my e-mail too often. :(

The kernel is 99% monolithic including both the AGP and DRM modules--
why do they have to be separate? Nevertheless, I'll go ahead and try
it as soon as 2.6.24 comes out (or maybe sooner, we'll see).

Oh, and I run Slackware (for over a decade)--not sure where that kind
of stuff is kept other than somewhere deep in the /usr/X11R6 heirarchy.
Unless we're talking symlinks between there and /lib/modules.

BTW, the computer is an old Dell Dimension 4300S with a P4 1.4 GHz and
392MB of ram. The northbridge is an Intel 845G (sans onboard video).
I bought it from my old job for $25 and other than this DRM problem
(which I've always had and know it's just misconfiguration on my part)
works perfectly.

My next project is a 1996 (I think) Hitachi E100D sub-notebook: P100
non-MMX and 16MB ram. I'm hoping to get DSL working on it, otherwise
it'll be about time to get serious with LFS.

My next serious computer, however, will be some cheap laptop, say, an
Asus or HP from Wally World, or a Dell D600 from Westech Recyclers
(who quoted me $375 for one). But I'd still like to get my hands on a
dually...

So I've heard too, and it makes me a little scared in buying a
brand-new laptop.

Thanks for all the help again!

Mike
