Free Software for m$ repository

I've been on windows a very long time, and I'm not aware of anything like
software repos for linux. Nor have I seen anything like synaptic on windows.
Wish there were.

I do use free and open source software on windows. There are lots of
choices, but it's a matter of finding, downloading and installing each.
There are plenty of good, free apps for windows, but you have to find them.
Some well known free apps for linux also have windows ports. ie: Gimp,
OpenOffice, Pidgin.
