I have been using Cox for the past five years. The service has been
excellent: no interruptions of service, except twice during _big_
thunderstorms. They followed me through five moves without incident.

Now, however, my new apartment complex is not served by Cox, and
perforce, I must make do with Qwest or dial-up. I gritted my teeth and
chose Qwest.

Two nights ago, after a hard day of packing and moving small stuff from
one apartment to another, I had collapsed in front of the tube. I was
trying to watch the premier of some show or another when I was
interrupted by some person from Porlock (i.e., Qwest) asking me
Qwestions about how I felt to have chosen Qwest, and did I enjoy the
hour on the phone setting up the service, and was I suitably grateful to
have such wonderful service at my disposal, and did I want to sign up
for more bundled services.

After only a short while answering inane Qwestions I erupted. In effect
I told the person from Porlock to get stuffed. This may have been an
error: the telco has a _long_ memory.

I'll try to get back on the net, with a valid email address asap.

Pray for me ;-).
