11/23/2006 Slashdot had a hyperlink to IBM's view of the Novell-Microsoft
deal. IBM thinks it is a good thing. They are happy the Linux market place
appears to have consolidated down to two solid corporate-supported
distributions: Red Hat and Novell. IBM's VP of Worldwide Linux and Open
Source might be right when he said "It's Linux's time."

If it's Linux's time, then that is more confirmation that Unix lives!
(Despite GNU not being Unix.) It has to be great fun for Thompson, Ritchie,
McIlroy, and their team to see something they created 36+ years being used
in the 21st century. According to Ken Thompson, one of the biggest errors he
made while creating Unix was to drop the 'e' when he named the creat()
function.

[OT] I give "thanks" to paved roads.
