Question about lilo.conf, /boot, and initrd

Hope someone can help me solve the problem I have with lilo.conf 
and trying to boot up with the win4lin kernel and start 'win' on 
my new Mandriva 6 installation. Everything in the Mandriva 
installation seems to work fine, but when I type 'win' at the 
command line, win4lin and win98 start, but then immediately 
after the win4lin/win98 window opens, I see a pop-up dialog box 
within the win98 window within 2-3 seconds that reads as follows: 

                Merge Winsock2 Configured. 
     Shutting down Windows to complete installation. 
                      Please wait. 

... and then that window just closes.

Can anyone tell me what changes I need to make to get this to work?
