[Fwd: [refresh-phoenix] Phoenix Bar Camp]

I went to the Ruby Users Group meeting last night. I said an official
"Hello" for PLUG. I mentioned how I was going to cross post some events
and they asked that I forward this to PLUG. It sounds interesting ...
apparently the concept of a Bar Camp is a response to O'Reilly's FOO
Camp ... (and unlike Desert Code Camp, involves actual camping).

There is no date, the idea is just being thrown out at this point. But
2 months from now was mentioned as a possible time.

Those who went to Desert Code Camp this past Saturday were encouraged
to see an actual software conference right here in the Valley. (OK, it
was a bit too Microsoft-y for my taste, but the interest in Ruby was
encouraging.)

After the conference, a few of us were talking about having a Phoenix
Bar Camp. Aaron had brought this up before, and others expressed
interest, but it seems to have drifted off the radar.

See http://barcamp.org for what Bar Camp is all about.

I'd like to give it kick, and see if we can get some momentum behind
it.

I went and set up a Wiki page on the Refresh Phoenix site, only to
realize that there was already a Wiki page on the Bar Camp site.

And there's a Google Groups mailing list.

My suggestions:

People interested in getting a Phoenix Bar Camp rolling should go join
the Google list for that, so we don't clutter this list.

We can pick up the discussion there, and perhaps figure out were is the
best place to collect plans, ideas, whatever (Bar Camp wiki, RePhx
wiki, someplace else?).
