56K Modem War Stories

I've had a couple of external Zooms I bought at garage sales (upgrades from 
33.6s) and been pretty satisfied; I'll note they seem to require a power cycle 
every few months.  Do other externals have that problem?  I used to turn off 
my 33.6 USRobotics Courier.
