I know this is a bit late to chime in, hopefully you have the roblem sussed by 
now, however, I had the same problem with an AMD Proc just a few weeks ago. I 
used heat sink "tape" instead of the usual compound paste. Removing the tape 
and replacing it with the paste cured the problem.
