it seems to me that the congress was lied to.
Congress was told by big content when asked if this was going to affect 
current fair use rights and they were told "no!". yet, here we are, fair use 
is all but dead. and yet, here we are 8 years later and folks are getting 
jailed for even *thinking* about playing dvd's in linux. 

when will it end?
a: it won't (if big content has their way).

there is even some rumor as to having hardware tied to drm in such a way as to 
kill linux off in the long run (yeah, it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but 
take a hard long look at it).

in any case, being jailed for just wanting to view your store bought media is 
a bit ridiculous, now isn't it?
