Well isn't that strange.... after my aot-get of 2.4.27 and associated packages
this old box seems to be running quicker
a comparison o top reveals:

yesterday
top - 18:03:30 up  1:00,  3 users,  load average: 0.07, 0.41, 0.55
Tasks: 100 total,   1 running,  99 sleeping,   0 stopped,   0 zombie
Cpu(s): 23.9% us,  7.5% sy,  0.0% ni, 63.3% id,  0.6% wa,  4.4% hi,  0.3% si
Mem:    385264k total,   292352k used,    92912k free,    14428k buffers
Swap:  1025000k total,        0k used,  1025000k free,   159768k cached

today
top - 15:36:45 up 36 min, 2 users, load average: 0.62, 0.99, 1.09
Tasks: 108 total, 2 running, 106 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 28.5% us, 5.3% sy, 0.0% ni, 63.3% id, 1.8% wa, 0.8% hi, 0.2% si
Mem: 385264k total, 361744k used, 23520k free, 18412k buffers
Swap: 1025000k total, 0k used, 1025000k free, 192316k cached

to my untrained eye it looks as if it should be running slower. I wonder why
not?
