I've lost the gist of this thread, (sorry, lazy) so my comments may be
a little OT, but here goes:

HTTrack is good for mirroring a webpage or entire site, reconstructing
/ building a mirror (including images) on your local filesystem.

I also have a list of services which purport to take regular snaps of
webpages, and mail the results around.  Perhaps looking at these
solutions may help clarify your requirements.
