what's up with gmail?

Gmail and Calendar hung for me this morning in a funny way.  I was logged  
in, and I suddenly couldn't view or edit appointments, and no new mail  
came in.  Logged out of both (both opened in two separate tabs), closed  
the browser, reloaded it, logged in, and it was fine.
