SuSE 9.0 Personal internet connection problem

You need to run the YAST2 Network Configuration Control panel.  There's an option there to have it detect your network interfaces and auto-configure them.  You need to run that first, then, if needed, tweak the settings to match what you actually have.

This is a common problem with YAST, in that it can, essentially, delete configurations that are in the middle of being updated when a failure occurs.
