Hello,

I am trying to setup the NIS+ in our deptments local
domain, but encountering
issues. I should also add that I am new to setting up
NIS+.

When I try as a user:

bash-2.03 rootdomain user1(id=2002)$
/usr/lib/nis/nisclient -u
**WARNING: you do not have NIS+ credentials.
You can either use NIS+ service as an
unauthenticated user
or ask your network administrator to create a
credentital for you.

So, I go to the root domain

bash-2.03 rootdomain root# nisaddcred -p 2002 -P
tmp.domain1.com local
nisaddcred: LOCAL credentials with auth_name '2002'
already belongs to
'user1.tmp.medtronic.com.'

bash-2.03 rootdomain root# nisaddcred -p 2002 -P
tmp.domain1.com des
nisaddcred: unrecognized netname type: '2002'.
nisaddcred: unable to create credential.

When I let the user try from NIS+ client, I get:
login: user1
Password:
Password does not decrypt secret key (type = 192-0)
for
'unix.2002@tmp.domain1.com'.
Login incorrect
login:

What is that I missing to let this user logon
successfully?

Sundar
