kde and startup scripts

I have a script I want to run everytime someone logs in to kde. But the 
machines are using KDM for logging in. I've tried putting the script in the 
.kde/Autostart but it doesn't work, it opens kate and displays the script.
Is there any way to get a script to run at login like that?
