uname -p

moin, moin,

debian's packaged 2.4.x kernels now return something other than 'unknown'
for 'uname -p'. This is a departure from the past.

Anyone know when/why this change was made?

Any examples of another dist that does this? ( No need to list dists that
don't, we'll presume everyone returns 'unknown' unless we get a report
stating otherwise )

What about the unadulterated kernel source?

I looked through the changelogs that came with the kernel package and didn't
see anything obvious. Maybe I'm just oblivious...

ciao,
