RH8 , DNS, Bind

Hi Don,

Understand the learning curve; we've all gone through it and you'll get
there. Though I'm not yet much of an expert with LDAP configuration, I can
sure assist you with bind.

If I recall correctly (this certainly isn't the case on most of the servers
I admin, so that's the only reason I'm not 100 percent certain now) the
default location for the zone files is in /var/named. So, go edit
/var/named/domain.com (replace domain.com with your domain name) and just
add two lines like the following after the definition of your domain's A
record:

mail.domain.com. IN A <IP Address>
domain.com. IN MX 10 mail.domain.com.

Hope this gets you going in the right direction on your name server; if you
write me off list, I may be able/willing to take a look at it for you. BTW,
O'Reilly's book on DNS and BIND is excellent!
