eth0 drops periodically

Post your /etc/modules.conf file.

What NIC is it?  What driver are you trying to use?

The pre-RH8.0 always choose the tulip driver for my computer but it would not
work correctly.  I changed the eth0 alias in modules.conf to the de4x5 driver
and that fixed the problem for me.  YMMV depending on what NIC you actually
have.
