just got back with a little chat from the sysadmins... THERE IS NO
FIREWALL ON THE DEPARTMENT OR COLLEGE!

ummm... the only one know protects the Goldwater, but god only knows who
else...

Looks like I'll be learning more about firewalls sooner than expected.
