I'm refering to Wireless Access Point. That is what I hear them called most
often.

I'm confused? Are you referring to WAN instead of WAP. WAP being wireless
application protocol used on cell phones etc and WAN being wide area
network. In other words, are you talking about 802.11b/a wireless
networking.

My opinion is that the combination of steel studs (if they were used as
opposed to wood) and EMI is blocking a proper signal to transmit. Try using
a 2.4Ghz cordless phone (if you have (access) to one) and wander around.
IIRC, 802.11b/a is on that spectrum and if you get interference with the
phone, then it's your building. Otherwise, try a different manufacturer.

My only hands-on (no pun intended) experience with WAP and WAP units has
been with the Linksys WAP. For some reason it would not fully cover a 800
sqare foot condo. Is this just a problem with the Linksys models? Does
anyone have any recommendations? Im looking at trying another brand WAP in
my house and at a good size office suite.

Thanks,
