You'll need to be root to save your changes.  Within KDE, Gnome, or TWM,
there should be a "console" program that you can use to work at the
command line.  In KDE, you can access Konsole by going through the K menu,
then System, then Konsole.  Next, you'll need to change to the root user.
You can use the "su" command to do this.  Type su on the command line and
then enter the password for root.
