Steve has been hard at work on the paper trail to
secure the student union at GCC. The next step is
to write up a proposal that demonstrates that GCC
will profit from the event. I've got the problem
laid out below, and have a first attempt at an
outline at the end. Please submit anything you can
to help, and I'll type it up this evening (and
yes, I will use spell chcek on the next pass :).

Thanks!

The message detailing this need is as follows:

If your dept. would like GCC to sponsor the event, and
subsequently reduce or waive rental fees, the following
criteria (per recently adopted Admin. Regs.) apply:

  1. Facility use is by an organization/entity whose
activity/event directly relates to MCCCD's mission of
     education and training.

  2. The value or benefit that MCCCD receives from the
activity/event is substantially equivalent to the
amount of rent foregone or waived.

  3. You, as the sponsor, would be present at the activity
at all times, and act as the point of contact for
     GCC. (campus requirement)

You must submit a written proposal to the Associate Dean
of Student Life, addressing these points. A decision will
be made and communicated to you. (Donna will be back on
  campus 7/22)

GCC's Mission is as follows:

The mission of Glendale Community College (GCC) is to
address the higher education needs of its
community. Through its diverse programs and services, GCC
assists students in meeting their educational goals.

We fulfill this mission as an institution of higher
  education by preparing students:

  * To participate responsibly in a culturally diverse,
    technological and global society.

  * For successful transfer to colleges and universities.

  * For employment and advancement within their chosen
    careers.

My quick thought is to simply explain exactly how
Linux exposure increases GCC students' ability to
achieve those goals.
