\_ SMTP quoth Lynn David Newton on 6/30/2002 06:44 as having spake thusly:
\_
\_
\_ Mark> I've just installed linux(Mandrake 8.1) and I'm
\_ Mark> trying to get emacs installed. Disk 2 of
\_ Mark> Mandrake 8.1 is in the cdrom and accessible.
\_ Mark> When I run this command 'rpm -ivh
\_ Mark> emacs-X11-20.7-17mdk.i586.rpm' I get this error
\_ Mark> message 'error: failed dependencies: emacs is
\_ Mark> needed by emacs-X11-20.7-17mdk.i586.rpm'. Any
\_ Mark> suggestions on how to get Emacs installed would
\_ Mark> be greatly appreciated.
\_
\_ You might just try building and installing it from
\_ source. I don't know exactly where to get GNU Emacs.

Google wins again:
