ultra sparc and linux

Debian would be my choice for a linux distro on  a ultra5.

Any linux distro is going to run faster on older sparc hardware than Solaris
will.

I've got sol8 on my ultra5, and it does ok.  Once all the GNU tools are
installed it's actually quite nice.
