The Newbie Again

Hi Robert,

Let me clarify what I said.  When you install Linux (*anything* but 
Red Hat), you will be asked during the set up about networking.  
Select DHCP (instead of static IP).  When you reboot, your should
be online.

Make sure your NIC is supported.  D-Link, Linksys, SMC and 3Coms are
pretty good.  I have had no problems with any of these NICs.  A NIC
is a "Network Interface Card" and a "box" is a computer.

Once you get your hardware working, let us know.  Someone will help
you through it.  Let us know which distribution you are using, and
someone who is well acquainted with it can help you out.  If you
chose Mandrake, I can help you.

I avoid Red Hat because it seems to have some problems with DHCP.
