For 1 you say netscape well thats a bottle neck right there Nutscrape sucks.

I for one use Mozilla which i compile so i do get some optimization.

to be honest you could take the long road and start with recompiling your
kernel and looking hard at your hardware
and making adjustments here and there I would'nt expect to much of a speed
increase ... If you have a 1Ghz Athlon
you might want to look at the Athlon optimized Glibc and Gcc it is said this
does make alot of difference in speed but remember you would have to
re-compile all of your progz to take full advantage.
