setenv or Redhat equal

Kevin,
I found out via experimant that "export" syntax is a lot different than CSH
for instance "setenv MAKE gmake -j4"
becomes "export MAKE="gmake -j4"
Pulling that out of "man bash" and "info bash" was my problem ;-)
