All,

Soon, I will be moving from South Chandler to the Northwest corner of Mesa.
Having moved to Chandler from Pennsylvania, it was the first time I have ever
had a fast internet connection using Qwest DSL. I am moving in about two weeks
and so naturally, one of my requirements for a new place to live was a fat
network pipe (dial-up never again!).

Unfortunatley, I didn't have much luck finding a new place that also had DSL, so
I am settling for Cox Cable and was looking for a little advice to aid in the
switch over:

1) Is it worth renting a modem from Cox? It seems that a modem would quickly
pay for itself at $15/month.

2) Any recommendations for a good Cox-compatible modem? I would like to get
one that does DHCP like my current Cisco 675, so that I can run my several
linux boxen on one IP.

3) Anyone looking to get Qwest DSL and need the hardware? If so, I would be
willing to sell you my Cisco 675 for pretty cheap. This external modem/router
allows you to plug the phone line in one port and 10baset in the other. I have
mine hooked up to a HUB connecting several machines. I bought it for $150 and
it works great. Make me an offer if interested.

Thanks,

julian
