graphics card purchase recommendations

I think Matrox has been highly recommended for Linux.  I can speak from
experience when I say to avoid an NVidia/Linux combination if at all
possible.  When their OpenGL works, it's sweet.  And when it doesn't,
kiss your uptime goodbye, bigtime.
