given the 2 years I spent in Britain, as well as the 3 months I spent in
Italy, I'm not surprised. Don't they still let you smoke in hospitals? :)

I seem to replace more hard drives in clients with smoking offices. 
Smoking offices are still legal in the UK (I moved here from

defect as a drive ages, RAID5 across partitions represents an ideal 
single-drive solution to medium failures. Considering the obscene

only a god-given right, but even appropriate ... software RAID 5 might 
just come in handy (those drives are vented, believe it or not, thru 
filters) 

Doesnt do any good if the drive's electronics or mechanics fail, 
however.
