linux seems slow

You raise a legitimate point. Netscape has never (IMHO) been particularly
stable or had good performance under Linux. Star Office is just a dog. 

I don't like running Star Office on my K6/233 w/64Mb because it is too
slow for my taste. However many other applications run at a more than
acceptable speed on the same machine.
