Sprint Broad Band

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Sprint/Speedchoice has always been a
"Flat" network and never switched. The reason for this is simple... you get
a unmanageable cable modem. With the service that my company provides,
wirelessly, we provide every customer with a Linux based router...hence a
fully manageable and switched network.

On a side note...came home last night to my Ocotillo home where all I can
get is @home service. When I went to check my home email I noticed I was
not able to get out to the internet. Now the way my network is setup is
that I have the cable modem plugged into a Netgear router which then plugs
into my LAN. So I began pinging everyone to determine it was not on my end
and then called the @home tech support to report the outage. Long story
short, I found out someone STOLE my IP, which is something that can be done
on a flat unswitched network, so they reissued me a new IP and a name for
the cable modem. Also, they do not resolve IP to MAC, they resolve IP to
cable modem Name. Either way it was fixed.

Shameless PLUG (no pun intended). Please check out today's copy of the
Business Journal, RNi has made the front page.

They aren't switched, but their shared segments are supposed to generally
be smaller than @home. Where I live, I'm pretty sure that isn't
true. They've been talking about splitting the area into smaller segments
for many months, but as far as I know they still haven't done so...
