Subject: WAN

My friend has 2 store locations that he wants to tie together and one of the
locations is in the Scottsdale airpark which offers few options for internet
access...

Standard USWest/Qwest DSL not available...the only DSL I can get is thru a
Rhythms connection (various providers will resell this) which offers 128K
for about $120 month where his other office is coming thru at 256K DSL which
tests higher than 512K for $35 per month (+ $30 Qwest).

We had Sprint Broadband (Speedchoice) and though the downstream speeds are
good...the upstream speeds are nowhere near the 256K and we are thinking
that the lousy 128K IDSL from Rhythms is probably better than the Sprint
Broadband. I do have Linux working and creating a virtual private tunnel
using VPND 1.10 but I think the newer version of VTUN or Redhat 7.0 bundles
in CIPE as part of the package might be more effective.

I have told him that what he really needs is a dedicated Frame Relay but he
is not going to pony up the price.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Craig
