Mandrake v7.1 install

I just downloaded the latest Mandrake version 7.1 last night and attempted
an install tonight. Everything was going well (I have installed v7.02 many
times and never had a problem) so I proceeded with the 'Expert' install. I
have a K6-2 450 with 128MB ram and a 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 with Samsung 17gli
monitor. I have used this configuration in version 7.0 for months with no
problem, at the 1152 x 864 resolution x 16bpp.

During Install, there is the option of installing Xfree86 v4 (in addition
to stable 3.3.6? I think). Not thinking this would be a problem I answered
'Yes' and proceeded with the 'X' configuration. When I got to the resolution
selection, I chose 1152 x 864 as I have many times and the system crashed
when it attempted to test the configuration. Hard. It turns out that there
was no Voodoo 3 2000 driver in Xfree86 v4 (that I can see). Should I avoid
this Xfree86 version for now, or does anyone have any suggestions? This
hardware and resolution configuration has worked well on mandrake versions
6.5 and 7.02. Does anyone know if the Voodoo card is currently not supported
in Xfree86 v4? Could something else have gone wrong with my install?

I checked the Xfree86 site and they state that, regarding the Voodoo banshee
and Voodoo 3, "All hardware supported in 3.3.6 is also supported in 4.0." by
the 'tdfx' driver.

Thanks for any input. I know this is a VERY recent distribution version. I'm
hoping someone has some experience with Xfree86 v4 and a Voodoo card.

Thanks and regards,
