firewall in Linux help

I am assuming that each computer would
have it's own firewall. If I am reading these
messages correctly, It seems I would be better
to buy another computer to use as a 'server'. 
Then, put the firewall on that computer to
protect all of the others. We use more than one
o/s. 

Is this a more correct assessment?
