OK - lpr filename works...the first time it mumbled something about using
procfs but of course...I was too impatient to see what it meant.

the printer defaults to wanting A4 sheets which dutifully causes my printer
to prompt me for A4 sheets. Any clues on how to adjust it to default to US
Letter?
