did i pick the right linux distro

[nightstalker]

being a comlpete newbie here i got a question ive got mandrake linux 7.1 and
i was wondering if i made a good choice on it because its compatible with
redhat and from what ive been seing its more trouble than its worth (redhat)
so did i make a good choice. any ideas folks
