Subject: Re: How to disable UEFI ??
hmmm.
that's weird. I must have a broken implementation here then. the machine I tried to replace a HDD on was a windows laptop with a completely blank disk (not even a filesystem) and the machine wouldn't even allow me to install an OS there from Windows, Linux or even one of the BSD's. It took someone here telling me that the UEFI screen showed the following error: no EFI partition present.

and yes, that windows laptop was a dell and one of the first to have UEFI on board. I don't have any other (newer) machines I can experiment with to see what would happen.

in any case, my gripe is with the EFI itself. How am I supposed to be able to do some kinds of work in IT when this interface (which I may be required to work with) is inaccessible? There is only so far that I can adapt, it is now time for the industry to catch up.

The reason, I need to issue a couple of commands inside the UEFI to properly prepare the disk for use. UGH! And yes, the UEFI consortium is still only responding with "form letter responses" on my inquiries about adding braille/speech support. And yes, if this sounds like a rant, it is, and I have good reason for it.
