Chrome is actually very clear about what it snoops on and what they do with it. You can move to chromium. Or Firefox. Or Opera. The challenge is that it is hard to get that kind of budget without support. It is why chrome and Firefox are basically top of the heap.

Recommended browser Mint 18?

Everybody has an opinion about the safety of browsers. Chrome is the most popular but it spys and sells. Is that really dangerous or am I being paranoid?

I did not realize that any of the browsers could have some form of limitations set on what they could do to the system. I assume that the 'containers' for Firefox is something like a sandbox for a program? Wouldn't still be safer to have an externally enforced container than one built in that someone could write a virus/malware to get around and still cause trouble?
